Special Issue on Medical Cyber Physical Systems workshop (MedicalCPS'16)

Introduction to the Special Issue

The following issue is based on the papers selected to be presented at the Medical Cyber Physical Systems workshop (MedicalCPS'16) that was held in Vienna, Austria on April 11th, 2016. The workshop has provided a working forum for medical device specialists, including researchers, developers, and caregivers, from clinical environments, industry, and government with the goal of advancing science, technology, and practice to overcome crucial issues with medical devices, software, and systems and improve safety and efficiency in health care.

The papers and posters presented at the workshop covered a broad area of topics, such as:
safety and interoperability of medical devices, verification of safety-critical medical cyber-physical systems, automated closed-loop model checking of implantable devices.

Special attention was given to the advancements in the Medical Internet of Things (MIoT), capsule robots and verification of implantable devices addressed in three exciting keynote presentations:

Ezio Bartocci
Martin Leucker
