Introduction to the Special Issue

This special issue collects the papers that appeared in the a Work-in-Progress (WiP) session of the 23rd Euromicro Conference on Real-Time Systems (ECRTS), held in Porto, Portugal in July 2011. The WiP session is dedicated to the presentation of new and on-going research into real-time systems and applications, even though not fully mature. The primary purpose of this session is to provide researchers with an opportunity to discuss their evolving ideas and gather feedback from the real-time community at large. This year we received 15 submissions and we selected 11 papers among them.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank the researchers who submitted their work to this session, as well as Andrea Acquaviva (Politecnico di Torino, Italy), Björn Andersson (ISEP/IPP, Portugal), UmaMaheswari C. Devi (IBM Research, India), Rodolfo Pellizzoni (University of Waterloo, Canada), and Mikael Sjödin (Mälardalen University, Sweden) for their help in the selection of the papers.
